Set of four blue Mimpei mamezara (tiny dish) from the late Edo era with a Chinese-inspired motif and scalloped edges. This set is smaller than most Mimpei ware, and are a deeper blue than the other blue Mimpei mamezara we have in the gallery.
Mimpei ware has grown in popularity in Japan but is not as widely collected in the U.S. Produced in rural Shikoku by founder Mimpei Kasyu, Mimpei ware can be found in many forms but all have jewel-like color ranging from blues through yellow, gold and purple.
Condition: The face of all dishes are excellent. However, the backs have glaze bubbles. Please inspect the photos carefully.
