Description
This Iga cake bowl from the Meiji era (1868-1912) is stunningly modern in design. A rustic aura emanates from the natural red clay that is seemingly left as is — while ash glaze drips add visual interest. The free, expressive form — with casually indented rim — would make a great setting for food. It is signed, but we are not familiar with the artist. A box (which is damaged) is included.
Condition: Excellent.
Size: 8.3 x 2.83 inches / 21 x 7.2 cm
Note: The color in the photographs is not accurate. This bowl is more of a brown, earthy color and not as red as it appears.
