Set of three covered rice bowls in the mugiwara (straw) pattern from the late-Edo (1600-1868) era. They are beautifully hand-painted and hand-formed, and are wonderful to the touch. This pattern is a classic one and is still made, even to this day — although modern bowls tend to have uniform lines and lack the depth and warmth of old mugiwara-patterned tableware.
Condition: Fair. There are some glaze skips , wear and chips as seen in the photos. However, the bowls can be used with no problem.
