This elegant antique Kyo-yaki tokkuri is shaped in the form and design of a chasen (tea whisk.) The thin glaze “tines” of the whisk are subtly painted. This type of poetic symbolism, where one item represents or recalls another, is called “mitate.” Age unknown. There is no box.
CONDITION: Good. There are some kintsugi (gold repairs) on the rim.
